Step-by-Step Dog Obedience Training And Tips For Your Pet Dog

Are you ready for Puppy Training 101? To get started, you will need three targeted pieces of equipment to properly teach your puppy: a training collar, a leather training lead, plus a 15-foot length clothesline rope

If you’re already considering that your puppy’s current leather dog collar will work, and that his 4-foot chain lead will probably be all you need, you may as well end reading this article and save yourself as well as your puppy weeks of uncomfortableness plus hardship. There basically is no substitute for the right training equipment. A training collar is really a slip-chain type constructed of metal. You should not substitute one that’s made of nylon.

One of the numerous things an individual’s puppy will almost certainly understand is to have assurance in you. However he will never develop that feeling of trust in the event you substitute inappropriate training products that are not efficient. When there’s no confidence there can be no respect, and no respect means no want to please. No need to please indicates no enthusiasm to learn. Add them all up and you have got an unmanageable puppy which will never realize his rightful place in the human world.

The Proper Leash

Your leash should be of the regular five to six foot leather type with a hand loop at one end. Training collars and leather training leashes are available at pet shops and via online catalogs. Training collars are sometimes called choke-chains, which is incorrect. While it’s true that a training collar can choke, if it’s worn on the puppy correctly and used properly, there’s no way it can be a choke-chain and cause harm to your pet.

The Right Collar

The collar should be large enough to slide over the puppy’s head comfortably, but not so large as to fall over the ears if the puppy should lower his head. A good rule of thumb to follow is to place the collar on the puppy and cinch it up tight for a moment and observe whether you have three inches of chain left over. If so, you have a fairly good fit. It is better to have a training collar that’s slightly too large than one slightly too small.

Final Puppy Training Necessities That You Cannot Find In A Store

The remaining equipment that you’ll need cannot be purchased at any store, but without them, you cannot successfully train your puppy.

You must love and care for your puppy! You must have patience and exercise patience while your puppy is learning. A shallow patience put together along with a quick temper is going to assure complete and utter fiasco

To lose your cool and blow up means the end of training, so here’s a little tip that might help you keep your cool:

It takes 4 to 5 days for an average puppy to learn the average thing. Do not expect your puppy to perform like a professional the first few days of teaching him something new. It just doesn’t happen that way. In the event you lose control of yourself, you’ve lost control of the actual scenario. When this happens, your puppy loses confidence in you.

I hope you have enjoyed the first lesson in Puppy Training 101!

dog training?

i got myself a cairn terrier on the weekend its a 15 week old bitch. shes a lovely little dog .but what i need to ask is is there anyone have any hints tips or proven remedys for training your pup to go to the toilet outside. tried a few things but she is doing it inside a lot any answers welcome thank you.

Getting a puppy is a very exciting experience. Usually your objective for bringing this puppy home is to have an enriching and rewarding experience as it becomes a part of your home. Yet, there could be hindrances to your dream of a happy household with a dog member. A very significant occasion is when you realize that it is not a bed of roses when your dog starts wrecking havoc, not only to your routine but also to your house.

But you know that there is one very good answer for this, dog training. Teaching your pet impeccable manners and good behavior has many dimensions. It also involves different actions and reactions that you want your dog to acquire. One of your priorities is to potty train your dog.

Many are apprehensive and feel stressed with the idea of potty training. If you belong to those pet owners who are serious to do dog training by themselves, make sure to know about the different ways to do this. There are plenty of methods available to accomplish this and each one is as good as another. Although there is only one basic concept to always remember in dog training, that you teach the dog the right things to do.

The sooner you start your training, the better. Over time, your dog will be able to develop habit of its own and that will be harder for you to correct the bad ones. Persevere in your efforts and be consistent with your training. Consistency is one of the main ideas that the dog could understand.

Start your potty training by picking the spot. It would be helpful if the floor would be easy to clean as there could be instances of hits and misses especially at the onset. Get lots of newspapers or even cardboard and spread several layers in your chosen area. Each time your dog needs to go to the bathroom, bring it on top of the paper-covered floor area.

While your dog is at it, lavish the praise and the love. This is the only best time to do this. A delayed praise might not be connected with the action and your dog will not learn. When you clean up the newspapers, always retain one slightly-soiled piece to put on top of the new pile. The dog would connect the layers of newspapers with the action of going to the bathroom.

When your pet slowly understand that the designated spot is its bathroom, slowly reduce the size of the layers of newspaper. In cases when your pet makes a mess outside the covered area, spread out the coverage a little bit again. Then, repeat the process of reducing the size of the area with newspapers slowly until there are lesser misses in using the allocated spot.

When you only allot a space as big as your dog’s mess, you can now move with the next step in your training. Either you could buy an indoor toilet for this purpose or you could move the bathroom to the door ready for house training your pet. Now you can rest knowing that your dog was able to learn that there’s only a specific place to use as bathroom.

Remember one general rule about your dog and training; your main goal is to form a habit, a good habit at that. Because of this, it will automatically involve time and endless repetitions to achieve your purpose. But don’t be disheartened as the reward of your patience is that you and your pet gets rewarding experiences together, without the unsightly and unwanted mess.

Hi. I have a dog that is a 6 year old Golden Retriever. She used to be a show dog, and well trained but she’s beginning to forget (3 years later…) and she is kinda dumb now. I want to train her to do basics stay, sit, lay down and shake. Unfortunately, she’s a allergy-nut so she can’t eat treats. I don’t really know what to do, and I’m unable to take her to obedience training. Any tips?

Puppy training?

I have a 3 month old Lhasa Apso that I interested in training. I was wondering the quality of the puppy education class at petsmart. Everything that I read BEFORE I bought her said obedience training is strongly reccomended for this breed. I just want to be sure that petsmart will be sufficient for her.

I know the importance of socialization, but I do have a concern. Currently we have one of those older 3-4 foot metal fences and my neighbor has a cocker spaniel and a rottie. My dog has a strong urge to play with them. The cocker is fine with her, but the rottie is not fond of her whatsoever. He is wonderful with us, the cocker, and my neighbor’s baby. Regardless, will the socialization at this class amplify her need to play with dogs unfriendly to her?

Also we will be installing 6 foot fencing as soon as the ground is soft enough for her. And as of now she is always supervised outdoors.

Any input will be greatly appreciated =)
I actually just had her groomed today (for the first time)! Her report def wasn’t positive…it was just said she hated the dryer.I don’t know why we didn’t take her SOONER. As for the every week, they said that she should be groomed every four weeks. Or are you simply saying to get bathed, her nails clipped, and teeth cleaned…with the exception of a haircut?

dog training?
