Step-by-Step Dog Obedience Training And Tips For Your Pet Dog

Can someone give me a list of things I need to start training my puppy right away? I had her for a week now. I was using the pee pads but I think ill start trying to teach her to go outside. What else does she need to know. And how did you teach your puppy to do things?

You should teach her to go outside from day 1.Put the pads near the door to make it easier. The sooner the better and remember to keep a lot of patience!

    Sit.
    Stay.
    Lay down.

    leash training.

Lots of patience!!!! I used pee pads and otherwise just rubbed her nose in accidents elsewhere and put her outside, she was trained in a week or so, she is 11 weeks now, and goes outside during the day and pads at night, just give your puppy loads of love and encouragement when she/he does it right and try not to focus on the negative, best of luck!

One really important thing is to teach her to pee and poop on command. When she starts to go, say something like "go potty," then reward her with a treat when she’s finished. When she understands "go potty," give her a treat only when she goes right away. After a while, she won’t need treats at all. Best thing, you will have trained her to go immediately when you’re in a hurry or when you have to go into someone else’s house or a car or plane.

Learn about nutrition (don’t feed grocery store brands) and learn how to avoid over-vaccination. Shots are big business and can permanently ruin your dog’s health.

definatley patience and to be consistent always say no when you see your puppy making a mistake and overly fuss over him/her when he/she does good but my puppy is 12 weeks old and he is starting to get that he has to go outside but i read the other day puppys are like babys and dont fully develop bladder control untill around 6 months.

I personally would never use a pee pad, that teaches them that it’s okay to go in the house, then you have to retrain them to go outside. My training method has always been to take the pup out every two hours for the first 16 weeks, be it day or night (yes, I work during the day, but I’d have a neighbor or familiy member take them out) By the time 16 weeks came around, all of my dogs had no problem making it through the night, unless, of course, they had an upset tummy for some reason, which is rare.)

I know two people with littermates of my youngest Min Pin, who used pee pads, and almost 3 years into their lives, these dogs still aren’t housebroken, but it’s not the dogs’ fault, they were taught that it’s okay to go potty in the house if the owner didn’t have time to take them out.

People say Min Pins are tough to housebreak, I think the owners are tough to dog break.
