Step-by-Step Dog Obedience Training And Tips For Your Pet Dog

I would like to know when I can start training my puppy basic instructions such as sit, paw, fetch….the usual? He’s only young at the moment, but I don’t want to miss the slot for training.

He is now 11 weeks old and is a Bull Terrier.

My puppies are usually eight weeks old when they come to me and I start training them as soon as they settle in. Ten week is an ideal time to start training. You must investigate "clicker training" on the Internet.

I have clicker trained for many years. If you want to see the results of this go to Youtube, then on the search bar type in "9rhubarb9" there are about six routines of my ten year old GSD strutting her stuff. I have the instructions for these moves in my archives. I have also instruction on how to do the basic stuff like fetch. If you are interested I can forward the info to you.

Start training your dog ASAP and your dog will learn how to communicate and develop its mind

Enjoy your dog and its development.

The breeder should have started the process before you got the dog, and you should have carried it on the day you got him. So start ASAP. Just don’t expect too much from him to start with as pups have a very short attention span. Five mins here and there throughout the day should be suffice, increasing the same as he gets older.

Right now!! We got our dog at 9 1/2 weeks and he knew sit by 10 weeks. Learned down shortly thereafter. Then onto paw, other paw, come, wait, leave it. He’s 17 weeks now & still a work in progress but definitely start now!!

You can train them from when they start running around! 11 weeks is old from my experience, start now!!

The ideal time is between 8 and 16-weeks of age, this is when they are a magnet for training. Keep in mind this is still a puppy, so don’t overwhelm the training. A little training, a little play time.

The earlier the better. I start mild positive reinforcement type training at about 4 weeks.

There is no "missed slot". Old dogs are quite capable of being trained. However, it is easier to train puppies since they have not learned bad habits nor do they attempt get away with ignoring the trainer.

You can start right away! Just keep your training sessions short and make sure that they are always fun for your pup. The most important thing is to be patient and consistent and the more research you do on training methods the better.

I started my pup from day one at 8 weeks and he learned fast.

Right now. Dogs actually learn most quickly from about 8-16 weeks, so use positive-reinforcement training, and have fun.

The first week you get them home is the time to start. You can find a lot of good information about training your puppy online — google or yahoo search.

You’re about 3 weeks late! Haha! I’m just kidding! Never too late to start training! The terrier breeds are very smart and eager to learn and please! But he’s all ready to start learning so get to work and have fun!

It’s important to try to train a puppy at a young age, it is also the best age too. You should try training your puppy now, If he struggles, don’t stop. Practice makes perfect! If he does some-thing you tell him , or like, reward him with treats or pet him. He should should be brilliant in no time! Thanks, and hope this helps!

Most of your really good breeders start with some positive motivational training around 4 weeks of age. At 11 weeks, you should most definitely be getting started teaching your puppy.

You can start as soon as you get him and he has settled into your home, so start now, it is a fun and bonding activity for you and your pup.
Just rember to keep sessions short and fun, that way your pup wont get board, once his attention span gets better you can do it for longer, i always do it for 20mins max at a time followed by some play for my nabours 2 dogs.
Most puppy classes take on pups at 12 weeks if you want to see how to do some of the training teckuniques.

Good for you for wanting to train it. GOOD LUCK
