She’s a 6 week old boxer puppy. My roommate impulsively adopted her today and he’s giving her to his brother. For now she’s in our house getting trained for a kennel. They say we’re supposed keep her in the same room as one of us for the first night, but she will not stop whining and barking. Any tips on how to stop her from this? Any way to comfort without ruining her training?

Okay, I’d like to take all your opinions on harsh dog training for obedience, such as using taser collars, mild beating on the snout and locking the dog up in a kennel if it does wrong.
I personally object with these ways. We’ve raised all our dogs without using any harmful or hurtful ways, so I now want to know what the Y!A community has to say about this :’)
Best answer is the most reasonable one.
First off, there is no need for you to attack me, I asked a simple question and there is absoloutly no need to be this rude. (: No that we’ve cleared that, those are actual methods i’ve seen people using. If you havn’t heard of them, I suggest you learn more.

Ok, so I’ve raised award winning hunting dogs, and I’ve raised a perfect seeing-eye dog, and I’ve had dogs as pets my whole life, but now I have one that’s got me by the cookies and I’m about to find him a new home – because he keeps running away.
Let’s overlook the fact that he’s a roller (those of you who understand that know what I mean), and overlook the fact that he’s terrified of men, he’s a great dog otherwise, very sweet and loving. He’ll sit there in the yard while I garden, or just be with me outside for hours – then he takes off and I can’t find him.
I walk him 3 full times a day. Full walks. I feed him the best food, just got him a full exam at the vet, I mean this dog wants for nothing. But I can’t tolerate these little "walkabouts" he goes on. I can’t afford a fence, and I’ve tried as much as I can to get him to stop taking off.
Is it POSSIBLE, that obeidence training would stop him from running away? Not that I would go, of course, because I’m a dog snob and think I know everything already. But – is it possible?
Some get my humor, some don’t. *sigh

I have a rat terrier that is as sweet as can be but she is not good with walks and could use some professional training. She is a year old. She gets very anxious around other dogs – is it ok to take her obedience training? If not, what are some good alternatives?

I have a boxer mix dog who is 2 years old but has never been socialized. Every where that I look for a dog trainer only does the basic and advanced obedience. Shes knows all of the command sit, down, shake, ect but does not get along with people or other pets out side of the household. I know with my children and other dogs, she is not a liability but God forbid she ever gets out, I am scared someone or someone else’s pet can get hurt.

I recently got a puppy (15 weeks old), and he has terrible separation anxiety. Even if I leave the room to go to the bathroom, if I go out of sight, he’ll start whining and barking. Crate training is especially hard with him. Do you have any tips from experience or that you heard?

I have a pom pom puppy that is 6 weeks old. I don’t know if I should start letting him go outside to potty or wait because he is so young and keep using the puppy pads. I’m in the process of paper training him as of now.

I haven’t been able to find Huppy Puppy brand training pads since Walmart discontinued them a few months ago. They are the best quality I have ever used and are now gone. Any suggestions?
