I can’t help you much on the experience side, as i live in Newcastle up north. but i have contacts in the south, and luckily, on of my friends knew a person who lived in Portsmouth, and they went to a training school called "The Dean’s list"…
I havent been myself, so i wont rate it for you, but it’s located on Virginia beach in Portsmouth, i believe.
Firstly, i’d like to give you a tip, being a dog training center owner myself: If you are planning on using a dog training center, do your research. Although it sounds silly, it gives you a better chance at spending your money wisely.
Go to the center, and ask if you can watch a class, and see what goes on before you book anything. In my center, it’s open to the public, and people can sit and watch from outside the ring. I can’t see it being any different down south.
Also, ask some people in the center (not staff, people who take classes there) wether they would recomend the training center, and if it’s good value for money.
My classes are a 8-10 week course for £40, and i am fully booked for the next year. If the training center i’ve recomended charges anymore than that and it isn’t outstanding, then don’t do it. I am one of the higher priced dog center owners in my area, but i make sure my customers are happy.

Hey, I’m sorry to say we haven’t yet visited the one in portsmouth, but the one we went to wasn’t the best. It depends on what youre looking for in a dog class, are you looking to socialize your dog, or are you wishing to simply train it ? if i were to give advice i’d say keep treats ready in-hand and if the dog does wrong, don’t smack it or hurt it, it doesn’t know what to do, =] so, good luck !
