thanks for sharing your positive vids! I succesfully taught my BC to ignore the hoover thanks to your video but am struggling to apply similar results with cars or sheep, her preditory drive is strong and where we live, paths are right next to the roads and we go through sheep fields every day. we play the Leslie McDevitt ‘look at that’ game to try and change her emotional response but not getting much better anytime soon. do you have any tips for car/sheep chasers?

Ya it works, until there is something more interesting than a treat around.

Hardly any bad dogs, but plenty of bad owners.

@PetTrainingProgram I think clicker training/positive reinforcement is in my opinion the best way to train any breed or in fact any species. In my latest video I show some pony tricks but it works even on mice. As far as tricks go you are limited by the dogs physical ability (for example it wouldn’t be good to practice jumping tricks with a dog that has joint problems) but really this is a scientific and kind way to train that gets results, can’t ask for more than that :)

What is your opinion on all breeds as far as tricks and behaviors, etc;?

I am so glad you put this kind of video together! I wish more people understood how dogs really learn. Good Work!

Very awesome! I love how you continually show that excluding punishment (+P) from training is not only humane but creates happy healthy and most of all safe companion animals.

@WolfOfShadows1986 The first clicker training I did was last week with my pup when a bag of recycling blew over and made a funny noise and frightened him. Within minutes he was choosing to play with it. I’d have had no idea how to deal with that before – it’s so great for helping dogs with scary situations.

Great video – and loads more channels to subscribe to! Only downside is I thought I was doing so well training my 9 week old (today) puppy, but now I’m not so sure. Mind you, I’m a newbie to clicker training so we’re both learning together.

Hey, I love your videos, I saw all of them! I train my dog also with clicker! (I have two tutorial videos on my channel:-)) Greeting from Hungary!

Your videos are great, i watched almost all of them !! My dog really doesn’t like young children, especially when they are runnning and playing. He barks at them and it’s very scary. Is it possible to clicker train him to stop this bad behavior ?

Aw c’mon. You can’t fool me! Where were you hiding the e-collar? What? No tssst? It’s obvious, that all these dogs have reached ALPHA status over these people, having trained the people to give them treats.
(greetings – Vela, buzz’s Alpha pack leader!)

Oh I love this! I’m super sorry I didn’t get to send in any clips because Abbey just had a break through at the park the other day where we had absolutely NO dog reactivity to other LARGE dogs. SHUCKS! That would’ve been a nice one I think. Can you do a part 2???

  24. by zsianz1, on February 20 2012 @ 6:00 pm

@WolfOfShadows1986 that is really wonderful news :-) oooooh, was the clip of the road walking from you? because I got a flood of clips come in and I wasn’t exactly sure who that clip was from and I was planning to find out in time for the next episode so as I can include it so do let me know if that was from you :-)
