Wow, haha! This is such a cute trick to teach!
Well done, great video, 5*s!

I know, those natural behaviors seem to be much harder to get on cue. I think that it has something to do with instinct, but not really sure. It seems like it would just be so easy since the dog just does the behavior, but it is not easy to capture a natural behavior. Good luck. You could capture the lip licking. That one seemed pretty easy??

ahah loved it! I was trying to capture Joel yawning and it is not that easy, he still has not put 2 plus 2 together, this is such a fun way of teaching and learning with dogs!

Yep, that’s the one Pam – I have ample opportunity to try it at hydrotherapy for the next couple of weeks – I’m just conscious that they are trying to get Milo done and ready for their next client!!

Great video!!!

Thanks! Capturing natural behaviors is my new favorite thing to do with Isabelle. I need to do this with Bandit as well! I am happy that you are having fun with it and not getting frustrated.
take care!

Awesome! I want to work on the ’shake’ too. You mean the shake like after a bath, right?
by tehrenberg, on March 13 2010 @ 1:11 pm
Very cool, Isabelle looks so cute trying to work this out. I’ve been trying to capture Mi sneezing, it sure is tricky to time but it’s fun to try!

Great video! 5*!

That’s lovely to see – will have to try it, having succeeded with sneeze! Would like to capture ’shake’ too.

Thank you! For some reason, natural behaviors are difficult to get on cue. However, I have found that the more natural behaviors I get on cue, the quicker Isabelle picks up the next one. The sneeze took me months, the scratch took about a week, so maybe the next one will be even faster.

Thank you so much!

Thanks Emily! This one has taken me about a week to get on cue. I just never had the camera on when she would scratch. I am also trying to work on more hind leg awareness with her. So, I figured if I clicked the leg lift she could later transfer some learning.
Yesterday was fun!

Well, it does not seem hard, but for some reason natural behaviors take a little while to get on cue. Prior to this video I had been clicking Isabelle for the scratch without putting the verbal cue on it for days. So, if it does not go as fast as you would like it, be patient. Your pup will get it in his time.
Thanks for the comment! Have a nice day! Pam

I agree! I have found that capturing natural behaviors is very difficult. I think that the dog is so into the behavior and not thinking about the click. However, once I captured the lip licking and the sneeze, the natural behaviors seem to be getting easier with Isabelle. Sometimes I am in public or have company over and when Isabelle does a behavior that I have been working on, I mark it with “yes” if I do not have a clicker and I run to get a reward. People probably think I am crazy!

You know what they say, “Great minds think alike”. Too funny that you captured the same trick. I can’t wait to see it! Pam

Wow!
This has to be one of the most impressive tricks to teach – and it’s not even hard. Going to try this!
Thank you very much! 5* and fav!

Excellent Pamela. I really do find capturing behaviours really difficult..cause i always seem to be in a rush all the time. Will have to be more observent and try and capture this…… thanks for the great ideas
by newbear95, on March 13 2010 @ 1:11 pm
Haha, I just captured this same trick of my dog a few days ago and was planning to make a video of it but I have no time to do it. Maybe when I have the time, I will post a video response to let you see.

That’s a good one!

That was awesome!
Such a smart girl! Love this tutorial. I like how you click the instant Izzies leg lifts up in the beginning.

Awesome! I’ll definatly try this with Kai. I’ve been trying to capture the behavior of her putting her ears back, but it’s so tough!
