I can TEACH any dog those commands in minutes.

What takes weeks is proofing the dog so that it responds reliably.

So, yes, a dog can learn WHAT THE COMMANDS MEAN in 2 hours. But that does not mean they are trained.

In other words, save your money and sign up for obedience classes instead.

im sure you can do that but in my opinion its not really good for a dog, thats like training a little kid algebra, history and how to spell big words in 2 hours

its called cramming and it sometimes irritates the animals

i had a horse trainer come out and work with my young horse ONCE because he came out for an hour and a half and did so many different things that the horse started to get confused and aggravated and eventually refused to do anything and gave him an attitude because he had so much crammed into his head at the time that he didnt know what the trainer was asking him to do

i wouldnt recommend it unless he can do it in a healthy way and with patience

No doubt you could teach your dog all that in 2 hours, but if you don't follow up and imprint that training, dog will lose it fast.
Best is to sign up for group obedience with a reliable trainer who doesn't promise miracles like that.
It's fun, teaches YOU how to train your dog properly, and helps socialize your dog with other dogs and new people.

If this "trainer" claims he can permanently teach any dog obedience in 2 hours, he's a con artist.
You need to work with your dog daily until he automatically follows your command - takes a while, but isn't that difficult once you learn how to train him.

just b/c he can have a dog doing that in 2 hours, doesn't mean your dog will do it for you. Find a class setting, you are the owner, you need to be the trainer, and your dog needs to learn to follow your commands, regardless of other dogs or people around you.

Well, I say yes, I own 6 dogs, some are rescues. I have taught them to "high five" in less than 30 minutes and they would do it reliably afterwards as well. Sit and down was mega easy too for the dogs......"Stay" is tough to me and that took a while longer. It took a few days to really nail down stay no matter what. But I think its probably pretty possible or at least the trainer will really nail the foundation of all of this in two hours.

Im not even a trainer but my various dogs all seem to do well and learn quickly so I say its totally possible! lol

Anyways, good luck :)

Sure it is, if you get the right dog. You could probably do it yourself. I've done sit and down in an hour and I'm just a teenager who doesn't work with dogs. Getting the dog to respond once isn't a problem, it's getting the dog to respond every time under different conditions. That's the problem, and the tricky bit. That's why you need to do 15-20 minutes every day to work on it.

U can train a dog to sit and stay in 2 hours...for those 2 hours....the question is...how much the dog will obey once you're done with the training.

You have to reinforce the commands

I'd say yes, as long as you follow through to the letter. If you don't then the trainer can teach your dog anything, but he will have to keep coming back. Its more like he will teach YOU how to train the dog and since it ALWAYS takes followthrough go for it!

My k9 trainer teaches sit, stay, walking on a lead, down, and to come when called in four 1-hour sessions.
