Step-by-Step Dog Obedience Training And Tips For Your Pet Dog

Training your Dog

Admit it. Dog training isn’t just a push- over thing especially for first-time instructors. It involves plenty of patience and determination just to achieve the personality you want your dog to build up.

Some people, especially for first-time dog owners, just won’t mind and would bring up and treat their dog like little brat. However, others choose to simply hire a coach and pay extra for their pooch to become a “super dog”.

But if you’re most likely the kind of person who’s willing to devote your time in looking for the best way to train your dog, here are some general tips to help you familiarize with.

We begin in what you can do.

1) Exposing your pet to varied situations.

As with every other human-being, dogs have to be confronted with diverse events, situations and places, specifically at their early age wherein these are more open to socialization. Not enough socialization tends to cause them to be more protective and hostile out of the fear and vulnerability they’ll be feeling during unfamiliar situations, surroundings and events.

2) Teaching them while very young.

They say “old dogs are difficult to be taught with new tricks”, and that is apparently correct with most cases.

Puppies are more susceptible to learning new things. And this is a good time where you can practice your skills in training them. But hey, that takes a lot of patience though! Due to the fact one dog can learn faster than the other. So, just take a deep breath whenever your dog can’t stick to your guidelines in a single time.

3) Potty-training

This is one of the most vital things you can train your dog to do. It requires timing and perseverance because this also reflects your dog’s personality.

Timing – Dogs have their own body clock. Which means, if you’re training them to go outside to poo, it must be at the same time of the day. Furthermore, you should set some spot where they could poo. A crater will help them identify where they must poo.

Now, let’s proceed with specific things you have to avoid in coaching your little mate:

1) Gratifying your dog with attention

What does this mean?

You will be surprised that oftentimes, there can be thoughts which come rushing into your mind that doing a certain thing might end up with an amazing result. Just like when your dog barks, insisting to get into the room. Then you just opened the door to let him in or simply to stop him from creating noise. This is one ultimate example of rewarding your pet with your attention and may pave the way for him to repeat the same action the next time. And it would touch his behavior as he matures, BIG TIME!

2) Giving into your dog’s desires

This is when you first say “NO” and in the end you say “OK” after sometime when you’re just fed up with insisting. Anybody, even dogs, could have a bizarre, violent reaction when the trainer isn’t firm with his decisions or guidelines.

Whatever you ask him to do, you must stick to those requirements, otherwise you risk training him to just wine, beg or bark louder and longer the next time he wants it.
