Where can I find some help training my puppy?

I have a 3 month old beagle and he is not really a problem but he is a puppy. I don’t want to be tied down with a specific time and pay for a professional dog trainer. Is there a good source for me to learn to train Willie before he gets to be a problem.

This is a good time to ask the question, but other than the basic commands and housebreaking, you should wait until Willie is about 4 or 5 months old. It’s a good idea to start training early because you can avoid a lot of frustration if you wait and start to experience some bad behavior.
If this is your first dog, you ought to know that well-behaved dogs are happy dogs.
Unfortunately dog training does not come naturally to most of us. Some people think that yelling, hitting and scolding will get a dogs attention and stop there misbehavior. It will not only not correct the disobedience or undesirable behavior, it is cruel.
While there are good professional trainers, there are also a lot of good sources to learn how to train your best friend by yourself. It can be a lot of fun for both of you and it certainly is rewarding when you, your family and your friends see what you and Willie have accomplished as a team.
I found a good source by going to the following Web page and clicking on the link to get a free mini course. It isn’t everything you need to know, but it will give you a good start.

Pet smart holds training classes. Get a dvd on dog training or a book from the library

I can usually find a boot in my closet to kick my dog. This has stopped almost all bad behavior from all my pets and is a blast to do. They love it when I bring out that size 11, you should see how excited they get.

The first source is your local library. Check out some good training books. There are many and they are free for checking out with your library card. You can also look into some good quality training classes in your area. Stay away from box store training like PetsMart and PetCo as those are a disappointment for many people.
